Red Level Beautification Club Meeting

Minutes

The March 14,2005 meeting of the Red Level Beautification Club was called to order by Vice President Janice Castleberry.

There were 9 members in attendance and Mayor Mike Purnell.

Janice Castleberry ask Mayor Mike Purnell to lead us in prayer.

Janice began discussion about the members she contacted about the meeting around 35 people. And said that the majority said we needed to continue what we were doing for the town. We have gotten permission from the town to go ahead with our projects such as the trees that are planted. Richard Marhler has agreed to go with Janice up and down the railroad tracks and see which trees need to be replaced.

Items Discussed were:

Replanting trees that need to be replaced.

Insulation under Stage at park for sound.

Finish Park before June 11,2005 in time for Armadillo Roundup.

Concrete table and benches for area by swings. Contact McNeill concrete for base of table.

Construction of platform for a slide.

Benches in front of stage.

Planting new trees for anybody that would like to purchase a tree can contact any Club member.

The Mayor discussed a parking lot that would hopefully be placed behind the old First Step Building and we could plant trees around that area.

Janice to get with Michael Bush about the stage.

We also discussed what we could do to honor Rene’ Beams memory.

We want to plant trees at the entrance of the football stadium where the band members enter and put a plaque between them in her memory.

Also we will put a flagpole in front of her shop. We also want to have an annual walk in honor of her and also mentioned to have a parade of homes.

Janice let everyone know that Ruth Little was in an assisted living home in Pensacola and if anyone wanted to send her a card they can contact Janice Castleberry for the info.

Connie Taylor is to check with Bonnie Plants about us selling trees at the monthly trade days Main St.

Also discussed having a contest on designing a city flag to fly on flagpole in front of Rene’s shop.
